After more fatal road accidents last week, a traffic department official said: “Despite awareness campaigns, efforts by police, stakeholders and the state regarding road awareness, it seems that we only listen and don’t apply.”
It’s a scary, all-too-true statement, and it really makes you wonder what else people need in order to understand that certain rules and laws have been created to keep people safe on roads – not to make them late for work or ruin their fun.
These past few weeks seem to have been particularly bad for road deaths, and reading the reports, the majority include phrases such as: ‘not wearing a seat belt’; ‘ran a red light’; ‘was speeding’, and ‘was over the (alcohol) limit’.
