Motorcycle Inspection (Biennial MOT – Roadworthiness Test)

Providing your details are up to date at the Transport Department, owners will receive an SMS informing them when the test is due.

Take the vehicle registration document and the fee (currently €25) to a testing station authorized to carry out the test.

The result is entered into the DoRT database immediately and a certificate is issued.

The certificate is valid for TWO years from the date of issue. To be confirmed.

If a vehicle fails the test, a certificate is issued, allowing 30 days to rectify the faults. To be confirmed

The re-test fee is €10.

The motor vehicles below will be invited to undergo inspection at a time that the Commissioner decides.

  3. Electric vehicles
  4. Motor vehicles hired without drivers
